Protecting Your Windows While Painting Outside

No one wants paint on windows that is not supposed to be there. It is important to work around your windows when taking on an exterior painting job.

Despite it being tricky, it is doable. We want to share some exterior painting tip that will help you paint ONLY exactly where you want there to be paint.

Painting Around Windows Without Paint On The Glass

One go to tool especially for exterior painting is a paint sprayer. A paint sprayer is capable of efficiently painting large sections of smooth and beautiful paint.

There is no getting around detail work and surface prep, but this way is the most optimal way to cover large portions of paint in a relatively short amount of time.

One question remains, how do you spray around a window without over-spraying and paint landing on the glass?

There’s two options, liquid mask vs tape.

Liquid Mask

There are several different products that can be chosen, but liquid mask can be either brushed or sprayed into place.

What happens is a barrier of protection is created that is quicker and more efficient to apply than the older method of papering and taping glass.

Afterwards you can just peel it off and the wash the glass.

Tape

Most of the time tape can be tricky for the average DIYer.

You can position the tape improperly and paint onto the glass, or leave residue upon removal.

Make it stand out

Without adequate experience administering the tape can be very difficult and foreign for a lot of regular people who aren’t painting professionals.
