What type of material? Contractors typically provide their own paint, but the better quality the better result.

Time is money, what is the agreed upon timeframe?
Expected Date Finished? Without an estimated time, things can get pretty hairy. Make sure this is agreed upon and stipulations of a course of action just incase not complete.
Guaranteed? Decently reputable painters will have a guarantee for their work.
Procedures? Figure a schedule and understanding with how the contractor works, as when they’ll be there and to what extent.
Extra costs? Ask about other costs or add-ons for any extra work, so pricing is concrete. Sometimes moving large furniture, painting
crown molding, baseboards, or tall walls or ceilings.
Contract and insurance? An insured contractor who do not put items in contract is not trustworthy.
